A few days ago I published a post on favorite Summertime desserts and that post had a photo in it of a trifle dessert that I recently made for my family. With this recipe you can use a wide variety of berries…whatever it is that you like.
Sometimes I make the recipe using a combination of strawberries and black raspberries and at other times I make it using strawberries and blueberries. My sister-in-law likes making hers with mulberries and blackberries…so the choice is yours on which type of berries to use.
Fresh Berry Fruit Trifle Recipe
1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz. can)
1 cup water
1 box vanilla instant pudding mix
2 cups light whipping cream
2 cups berries (we used strawberries, sliced)
2 cups of another type of berries (we used blueberries)
1 pre-made angel food cake
berries for garnishing the top
Wash berries and set aside. If using strawberries, slice them at this time. In a bowl rip up the angel food cake into bite sized chunks and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl whisk together the can of sweetened condensed milk, water, vanilla instant pudding mix with whisk for 1 1/2 minutes. In another bowl use an electric mixer and beat the whipping cream until peaks form…this will take about 2 minutes on medium to high speed. Use a rubber spatula and fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture until well blended.
In a trifle bowl or large serving bowl…pour 1/2 of the pudding mixture into the bottom. Place the ripped up angel food cake on top, spreading out the chunks to cover up the pudding mixture. Sprinkle the first set of berries on top and then the second set of berries on top of the first. (in our case…strawberries first and then the blueberries). Pour the rest of the pudding mixture on top of the berries.
Garnish the top of your trifle with some additional fresh berries in any design that you would like. You could just throw them on or make pretty flower patterns. Cover bowl and refrigerate for 2 hours before serving. This is a dessert that you serve chilled.

What a pretty dessert! This looks so good, easy too! 🙂
Thank you for printing the recipe. It looks great and sounds delicious and does not seem difficult to make. I think I like your combination of berries the most.
I have some stray cans of sweetened condensed milk that I think I just found a use for. Thanks!
I don’t know that I’ve ever had mulberries. Don’t remember seeing them in the grocery store. This trifle looks very good. Thanks for the recipe.
It looks wonderful, and I bet it tastes great, too. Summer is a perfect time for desserts like this…fruity and refreshing. Light and slightly sweet without sugar overload. A good choice. A recipe to keep and serve at a Fourth of July party or just a night grilling out with friends.
This is so pretty! And looking at the ingredients list, I can only imagine that it tastes even better than it looks. Thanks for sharing the recipe; I’ve saved it for later use, when I find a good buy on beautiful local berries.
