Made From Earth Lavender Calm Body Lotion

Made From Earth Lavender Calm Body Lotion

** Complimentary Product Received for Review **

Made from Earth Lavender Calm Body Lotion is lightweight yet moisturizing. It has nice staying power, even with multiple hand washings.

I have combination skin. Not all over, but in spots. My hands, legs, and feet are dry. My face is a classic combination with an oily T-zone and normal to dry cheeks. The rest of my body is normal to dry depending on the season. Sounds like fun, right? Finding the right body lotion is a bit of a chore, particularly in summer months when the oily skin is oilier. I love lavender, period, and my hands are taking a beating so far this gardening season.

Made From Earth Lavender Calm Body Lotion  is “organic, holistic, and healthy,” according to its label. I have to agree. The ingredients are plant-based and clan – nothing scary here. The organic aloe, lavender, and coconut oil base with Jojoba and Witch Hazel is an ideal combination for soothing and moisturizing skin. Lavender and Witch Hazel are always on hand in my home and now I have them in a lotion.

The lotion arrived quickly and I put it straight into the refrigerator so I could have the cool lotion for my legs and feet. You haven’t tried that? Try it sometime after a long workday. The cool lotion provides a quick pick me up. After a long day of yard work, it was a welcome treat. I use it most often at room temperature, especially on my hands. Although light in texture, Lavender Calm is not light on moisture. One application last through multiple hand washings and does not leave residue on my touch screen. That’s a big bonus for me and other phone addicts.

I found an additional benefit of Lavender Calm that was not expected. I decided to use some on my face while dealing with a migraine. The lotion was within arm’s reach while my lavender essential oil was across the house, so I gave the lotion a shot. Alone it may not have given relief, but it did help me relax and doze off without the heavy migraine meds. Not only did Lavender Calm help relax me, it made an excellent moisturizer. I do not usually use fragranced products on my face, but this did not irritate my skin in any way.

Would I pick up another bottle? Definitely. The ingredients fit my personal criteria, the lotion works, and have lavender as a main ingredient. Made from Earth has a wide selection of products for the hair, body, and skin, and is sure to have something for every taste. The Herbal Hair Kit in particular is calling my name.

Emotional First Aid by Author Guy Winch, Ph.D.

Emotional First Aid by Author Guy Winch, Ph.D.

“Jews and Catholics aren’t the only experts at experiencing guilt. The average person spends 2 hours a day experiencing mild guilt, 5 hours a week of moderate guilt, and 3 ½ hours a month of severe guilt. The vast majority of guilty feelings we have are about our relationships with other people. But sometimes those people attempt to add to our burden and control our decisions and behavior by giving us guilt trips,” says Guy Winch, PhD.

Winch is the author of the new book, “EMOTIONAL FIRST AID: Practical Strategies for Treating Failure, Rejections, Guilt, and Other Everyday Psychological Injuries” (Hudson Street Press/Penguin Group, July 2013). He holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from New York University and has a private practice in New York City. His first book, THE SQUEAKY WHEEL, has been translated into six languages.

Book Title: Emotional First Aid
Author: Guy Winch, Ph.D.
ISBN: 978-1-59643-120-7
Suggested Cover Price: $25.95 Available in August 2013

In Emotional First Aid, Guy Winch shows us the strategies he uses with patients in his own practice to help heal our psychological wounds so that we can feel better quickly & improve our lives over the long haul. Dr. Winch discusses the 7 most common psychological injuries we suffer from in daily life: Rejection, Loneliness, Loss, Guilt, Rumination, Failure and Low Self-Esteem.

My Thoughts: As someone who suffered a lot of emotional trauma as a little girl, this book definitely peaked my interest. It’s a hardcover book with 289 pages so I knew I had a lot of reading, learning & healing to do. The first chapter was my favorite chapter in the entire book as it deals with Rejection and I have always felt rejected by my father since I was 5 years old. He got remarried when I was very young and ALWAYS gave preference to my half-siblings, hence my feelings of rejection. I really learned a lot in this chapter and hopefully I can apply what I learned to help heal those still painful wounds.

The book is broken down into appropriately labeled chapters: Rejection, Loneliness, Loss, Guilt, Rumination, Failure and Low Self-Esteem…you could go right to the chapter that you feel would help you the most but I do recommend you read the entire book from start to finish.

I really learned a lot from this book and I also learned that what I am feeling is totally normal for what I went through. Dr. Winch gives you simple tips to help teach you how to recognize the pain, what caused it and what you can do to help yourself heal from it. Excellent self-help book that you should definitely pick up this Summer!
