The new movie titled “Wiener Dog Nationals” is coming to DVD on July 2nd, 2013 and will be available for purchase on DVD and on Video on Demand. The movie is being released by Inception Media Group, LLC. and here is some additional information about it.

Synopsis: A boy and his family adopt a runt of a dachshund litter from a local shelter and name her Shelly in honor of shelter dogs everywhere. Despite all the odds, Shelly surprises the boy’s father (Jason London) when she places in the state trials of Wienerschnitzel’s illustrious Wiener Dog Nationals Race.

The family pools all of its resources to advance to the next round only to face strong opposition from the reigning champion, Princess, and her owner Ms. Merryweather (Morgan Fairchild). Meanwhile, judge Melanie (Alicia Witt) is banned from the race by the head judge (Bryan Batt) when she tries to help the family prove that Ms. Merryweather is cheating.

Our Thoughts: We sat down last weekend to watch this movie with our grand daughter and our 2 nephews. We love finding good family-friendly movies that we can all watch together and this cute movie is perfect for family movie nights.

This movie stars: Jason London, Morgan Fairchild, Alicia Witt, Bryan Batt, Austin Anderson, Caitlin Carmichael and Julian Feder. The only 2 actors I was familiar with was Jason London and Morgan Fairchild, so it was nice to see some fresh faces and new talent.

The movie starts off with the family going into the shelter and adopting this adorable Dachshund that they name Shelly (hey, that’s my name too!). Once back home, they immediately fall in-love with Shelly and Shelly is an instant important member to the family.

They enter Shelly into the preliminary trial race for the Wiener Dog Nationals and Shelly does very well which surprises the family. They then decide to let Shelly go onto the finals and start preparing the dog for that upcoming race.

During race preparations, the family quickly learns that it’s a competitive world and others do not play fair and others will cheat to just win the race! The family bans together to overcome these obstacles and guess what? Well, I am not going to tell you whether or not Shelly wins! You will have to watch the movie to find that out!

I will say this…the kids LOVED this movie! From ages 4 though 51 (hubby), everyone enjoyed it! It was nice to see the entire family laughing and having a good time. We highly recommend this DVD for your family movie nights!
