Girls Can’t What? is an embodiment of girl power.  This site has inspiration and information to help women and girls of all ages realize that they can break barriers and live their dreams.

It’s not easy to be a woman a times and even harder to be a girl.  The images are conflicting and role models are all over the place.   Should we be smart or sexy?  Pretty or strong?  As women, we know there need not be an ‘or,’ but as girls, it was hard to realize that.   Girls receive conflicting messages about who they should be and how to be the right type of girl.  Parents tell them one thing, friends another, and the media a third.  No matter how many messages they hear, the message that they are strong, beautiful, smart, and capable should be the loudest.  And sometimes hearing it from loved ones is not enough.  Girls Can’t What? is here to help get the message to stick.
Girls Can’t What is a go-to site for girls with inspirational stories and tips on becoming what you want, breaking down barriers as they go.   Women of all ages will find something that speaks to and inspires them to go for their dreams.  The Facebook page and blog are full of the positive messages and stories girls need to see.  The site came together after the owner, Gretchen, was told that women can’t do web design.  She and many women believe women can do anything they choose to do.   In 2005, Girls Can’t What was born.  You go, Gretchen!
In addition to the positive messages and tips, there are customizable, empowering gifts available.  The array of gifts includes mugs, mouse pads, iPhone and iPad cases, laptop sleeves, electronics skins, tote bags, clothing, and more with the image of a woman rocking her profession.
For Teen Girl (TG) I selected a mug with the dark haired version of the logo.  Her career goal is as animator and graphic artist, so the woman behind a computer desk was what I chose.  Not only does the mug represent what I do and what she wants to do, it’s a reminder that girls rock and can be anything.  I brewed a pot of tea and served TG a cup.  She’s used it every day since then.  The mug arrived very quickly and is just as lovely as depicted on the site.
Girls Can’t What works no just to inspire with words, but with funds as well.  The company makes a 20% donation each month to the KIVA micro lending program.  They’ve helped over 200 women get closer to their dreams in just two years.   That in itself is inspirational.  It’s not just a business, but a mission.
TG visits Girls Can’t What? weekly now and we are spreading the word to Baby Niece that she can be anything she wants as well.  Give it a look and spread the word to your daughters, nieces, cousins, or other woman in your life who needs the reminder of how awesome, beautiful, smart, and capable they are.

Great idea and message! This site and the people behind it are inspirations to all. Girls and women lack self esteem and we need to band together to fight this. We are all beautiful and capable of anything. I went to the site and love how the blog features real women. This is a site for all females to check out and believe in.

I think it is wonderful that there is a site to inspire and inform girls/women of what they can do and what they should strive to do. It is so important to empower girls and give them positive messages. I love the mug you chose.
