Tips for Online Diamond Shopping

May 17, 2013 by Classystaff

I love diamonds, don’t you? They are one of my favorite stones to wear because they simply go with everything. You never have to worry about color clashing or even wearing too much. The light and the flash of the stone that has a fabulous cut cannot be compared. Much of America is built in small town USA so access to great stones like diamonds can be difficult. Thankfully, there are online retailers of awesome diamonds and other jewels that can really step up and help you find the perfect piece, whether it be for a wedding, anniversary or just because you deserve it! When you are ready to buy your diamond online, how can you be sure of who you are buying from? Well, I am going to share with you some tips to make your diamond buying decision a bit easier.
Tips for Online Diamond Shopping
1) Do your research! Take the time to research the company. Look for things like how long have they been in business online? Are they members of the BBB? Do they have jeweler certifications that you can follow up on? Do they have a store front as well as an online business? If they have a storefront that you can visit, then you can find the item you want and order it to come into the store for visual agreement before the final purchase.

2) Research the type and quality of stone that you are looking for before you are ready to buy. Know what you want as far as cut, clarity and carats so that you can just look for style and design elements when you are ready to shop. Many jewelers offer a ring, pendant or loose stone in different sizes and clarity. Look to see if the diamond you are buying is a certified stone from an authority like the GIA or AGS Labs. Then you know you are getting the best.

3) Ask the return policy of the store/site. Is this site going to stand behind their reputation and offer a money back guarantee? Do they offer insurance on your purchase in case something happens in shipment or it is not what you expected? If you do make a purchase, do use a credit card as most card companies offer guarantees on purchases to protect you too.

Take your time when shopping for a diamond online or offline. Make sure you are comfortable with your purchase before you buy with your research time and education. I found a beautiful ring that I want to get for our 20th anniversary and it is from a Houston diamond store, but that does not mean that I cannot get that diamond ring. I am going to Texas in a few months to visit relatives and a stop at the diamond store in on my list so I can see it! Where there is a will, there is a way!

I love the variety, convenience, and pricing of only shopping. Many times products will have excellent online deals, but I often worry about quality and reliability. This is especially true of electronics and jewelry. The photos might be lighted or turned just right to not really tell about the product. Checking into reviews and return policy are good tips and very important. Know as much as you can to really get a good deal and beautiful piece

I find these to be very good tips for buying a diamond online. For me I think that I would always want to see the diamond at some point before I actually purchased it.

Oh wow – I”d be so nervous to order an online diamond – I’d be so afraid of being ripped off.
