Total Hip Replacement Surgery Update
Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday! As you all know, I had my hip replacement surgery back on April 25th and it has been a long, hard & painful road since then. I spent 6 days in the hospital and came home onto home nursing care a week ago. I have a home PT therapist that comes in 3 times a week to help me to learn to walk & to get around on my new hip. At this time, I can not walk on my own and using a walker to get from point A to point B. The pain has been terrible!!! I am on Dilaudid and Morphine for pain and both do very little. The knee pain & leg bone pains are worse than the hip pain/surgical pain right now. Very little sleep and totally exhausted.
To help with the pain I’ve been using a lot of ice packs, pillows and a little bit of massage around the area but not on it. Keeping my leg elevated and propped up on pillows helps a little bit. All of the nerves in my leg and foot are irritated and don’t like anything touching them…including clothing and bed linens. I’m not impressed with all of this pain and swelling!!!
I hope in a few weeks that all of this will seem like a “bad memory” and hopefully all of the pain will be gone. On a positive note, I am excited to see my beloved doc today and hopefully she can RX me something to help me sleep & to help with the pain.
