Stop Playing Safe

Reading books has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. I used to read all of your classic children’s books, Nancy Drew Mysteries as a teen and then graduated to adult novels when I was around 17 years of age. I work long hours so I often don’t get time to sit down to read a good book, but last week I did!

My Thoughts:  I have worked in the past in the corporate world and for the past 7 years I have worked from home running my own business. When I read the press release on this book, it sounded interesting and something I might learn a few things from. With that said, I did learn a handful of things but in all actuality, this book really isn’t for me since I have no desire or plans to go back out in the real corporate world.

One of the things I have always hated about the corporate world is the cut throat, back stabbing, do-anything to get ahead approach and I feel that this author encourages to a slight degree. She teaches you courage, inspiration and motivation…but I feel that some of her approaches in business are aggressive. (at least in my opinion).

Overall, it’s an interesting read…but since it really doesn’t apply to my personality or career/business goals, I found myself getting bored with it in several places. I think the book is “best” suited for a career corporate driven-type of woman…which is not me.

Sounds like a good book for a certain group of people. I’m glad that they have a book like this trying to push business-minded women into achieving their goals. For some people those goals aren’t high powered positions or the corporate world and that is great, but if you are interested in that it’s good to know that others want you to achieve it. Now you just have to believe in yourself.

I am sure you are right in that his book is for the woman wanting to get ahead in the corporate world. Too few women are in high positions there and I hope this book teaches those who want to be more successful how to do that.
