Prep Your Yard for Spring With Scotts Florida Select Mulch

May 2, 2013 by Classystaff

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts Miracle-Gro for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year.  The flowers are bursting with blooms and everything is showing new growth.  It is the time of year that we love to be out in the yard preparing for the hot summer to come.  One great way to do that is by using mulch like the Scotts Nature Scapes mulch that comes in designer colors so you can really make your bedding pop.

Scotts Florida Select MulchScotts is a brand known for their gardening supplies and a name that we trust for quality product.  They have come out with  their new Scotts Florida Select Natural Eucalyptus Mulch that is all natural and it helps to control weeds.  Plus the Eucalyptus plant is perfect for sustainable gardening since it re-grows at 4 times the rate of normal Cypress  that is used in regular mulch.  It is also fabulous to control soil moisture, making sure that your plants get  the water they need and your plants are protected from extreme temperature changes too. If you are a Florida resident, then you will be pleased to know that the Eucalyptus is a local product, all USA grown!

Since spring is here, I have been busy getting my plants in the ground.  With easy tools like a shovel, a trowel, plant food or dirt enhanced with plant food, I am ready to go! I have to get my plants in before my mulch but it is easy to prepare your beds for mulch too. Simply clean out any debris and pull excessive weeds. Then spread your Scotts Mulch about 3 inches deep around trees, shrubs, flowers or vegetables after seeds have germinated and plants have developed.. Make sure to keep your mulch several inches from tree trunks and house foundations or other wood structures.

This weekend, hit the garden department at your local store, find your favorite plants to show off your yard and gather your tools!  In a few short hours your yard and bedding areas will look fabulous and make the neighbors jealous too!

I didn’t realize that mulch now comes in designer colors to make your garden even more attractive. Scotts has always been one of the names I trust for my gardening supplies.
