Several weeks ago I was asked to host a Gevalia Kaffee Coffee house party and to share some great tasting Gevalia coffee with a few of my friends. Gevalia coffee is one of our favorite brands and we love to brew a pot of it in the morning, but that is not the only time we enjoy it!
We love to use their coffee to make Iced Coffees on hot Summer days, in various recipes and it’s our favorite coffee to use when we make homemade coffee flavored ice cream!
Before I tell you all about my house party, do you know what a Fika is? A Fika (Fee*kah) is a Swedish tradition that’s all about taking time during the day to indulge in the simple pleasures of life, like coffee and good company. Well, I decided to invite a few close friends and a few family members over to my home last weekend to enjoy a Fika with me!
For my Fika house party, I was shipped a box of goodies from Gevalia which included: bags of Gevalia coffee, stainless steel travel coffee mugs, stainless steel coffee scoops, Gevalia coffee coupons, etc. I also supplied a few of my favorite desserts like a triple berry trifle, maple pecan coffee cake and a few other delicious treats.
Once the coffee was done brewing, I served it in the supplied travel mugs and then asked my guests what they thought of the coffee. Every guest told me that it had a smooth taste, wasn’t bitter, wasn’t too strong and they felt it had a nice aroma. I then asked them how it compared to their current brand and 7 out of 8 people told me that it was better than their current brand of coffee! Wow, I was really surprised about that!
Towards the end of my little party, I served everyone some homemade coffee ice cream that I had made in my ice cream machine using some Gevalia coffee. It was delicious and apparently, I didn’t make enough because it was gone in less than 30 minutes. When I make homemade coffee ice cream, I always and I mean ALWAYS use Gevalia House Blend coffee because it gives the ice cream a beautiful smooth taste without it being over-done.
Once my party was over, every guest left with Gevalia coffee coupons, their stainless steel Gevalia coffee mug and coffee scoops. They all told me that they had a wonderful time and that we should all get together once a month for another Fika! Yay!

Glad you enjoyed your Fika! Look at those adorable, smiling faces. My husband loves coffee, but he wants his bold. I know he would have loved your homemade coffee ice cream. Never tried making flavored ice cream just vanilla but it sounds great. A fun party all around and a great relaxing afternoon. I didn’t know what a Fika was, but now I will have to have one. Hope you get to have another one soon!
This sounds like a wonderful party. I use Gevalia decaf right now, but I have used Gevalia for years – ordering form them because they wre not yet to be found in a supermarket. Gevalia’s coffees and aromas are always excellent.
