Selling Your Home? Real Estate Signage

Selling Your Home? Real Estate Signage

My husband and I are considering selling one of our vacation homes now that the real estate market is bouncing back. While we love this vacation home, it is becoming too small for our growing family.

A few days ago we were online and looking for some real estate signage and found several stores that sell the type of signs we will need. We are complete newbies when it comes to selling a home ourselves, so we do indeed have a lot to learn.

Today, I thought I would share a few signage types with all of you that I recently learned about by reading a few articles online and by talking to a friend who is a real estate agent.

1. Your sign needs to be large enough to be seen by a passing motorist or pedestrian. In this case, size does matter!

2. Your sign should be white with a bold black text for easy readability. If you want to really get your sign noticed, order one that has bright accent colors and a clear, bold font.

3. Your phone number should be clearly printed on the sign or an email/web address, so that interested buyers can contact you.

4. Your new “House for Sale” sign should be placed in the front yard in a prominent place. It needs to be ‘FRONT AND CENTER’ for the best exposure.

5. If you are hosting an open house on a specific day, tie some colorful balloons onto your sign to bring attention to it by those who are passing by or to bring attention to it for those who are attending your open house.

6. Your sign doesn’t have to be expensive, but it should be professionally done. You don’t want some “homemade” sign that doesn’t look professional. You can get a custom printed sign or a ready-made sign for a lot less than you might think.

Selling a home yourself is not a hard process, but you do have to take the time to educate yourself on how to do it. Right now we are working on that and hopefully the “For Sale” sign will be going up next month! Yeah!
