OGIO Pinot Grigio Wine and 2 Sangria Cocktail Recipes

I have never professed myself to be a wine connoisseur but I do enjoy a glass in the evenings here and there. It is a great way to wind down and get a good night’s sleep for me. Plus I enjoy tasting all of the differences in the wines that I do get to drink. I was so happy to be able to try a somewhat new wine called OGIO Pinot Grigio
OGIO Pinot Grigio Wine
Recently re-launched in the US, OGIO is ideal for the more casual wine drinker – an approachable, friendly and easy to drink wine for those who want to have a conversation over a glass of wine, not about a glass of wine! Originally introduced in the UK in 2006, OGIO came to the US in 2007 and has spread to become a global brand in 13 countries. Now over 60 million bottles of OGIO Wines have been sold around the world. Fresh and food-friendly, each of OGIO’s wines reflect the style of today’s casual, social, internationally-minded wine drinker. Authentically Italian, each wine was designed and created in Italy.

OGIO’s portfolio includes three distinct wines:

OGIO Prosecco DOC – is balanced and fruity, combining the best of winemaking tradition with contemporary winemaking techniques. A pale yellow color with graceful perlage, OGIO Prosecco is delicate yet complex with fruity notes of peach and green apple, with hints of acacia and lilac. Perfect for all pairings and an ideal topping for specialty cocktails.

OGIO Pinot Grigio – is a wine with high acidity, natural tartness and rich fruit, OGIO Pinot Grigio is a delicate pale straw color with notes of citrus and melon. The finish is a perfect balance of natural tartness and rich fruit. OGIO Pinot Grigio is ideal for spicy cuisine like Thai, Mexican and Indian.

OGIO Tuscan Red – A quintessential Tuscan red, OGIO blends 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabaret Sauvignon and 5% Merlot into a wine that is rich in rub color with aromas of violet, cherry and spice. The palate boasts good body, with fruit and spice throughout and levels with a smooth, lingering finish. Pairing suggestions include red meat, cheeses, pastas with red sauces and grilled chicken.

I sampled the Pinot Grigio which is a nice white wine. It is a very light and refreshing taste. It is not overly fruity in that you mainly taste the flavor of the grape. There is not a lot of other flavors that I could pick up. It is a nice taste that does not over power anything but it does have a nice tart taste. This would make a great base for any mixed drink or to drink on its own. This would be awesome for a light lunch or a fantastic dinner. Like the vintner suggested, pair it with spicy foods for a great compliment to the meal. My hubby and I enjoyed the tart taste as a sipping wine but I enjoyed it more when I made a spritzer with it! yumm

If you are looking for something different to try, take a look for this wine. Plus you can try out these great cocktails using the OGIO for a delicious cocktail!

  1. I think I’d like both of these drinks. Wine and fruit go together in my book.

Interesting. I’m not a big wine drinker but wish I knew more about what my likes were. I like to have a glass now and then. WIll have to give this a try. I’m trying to find more reds that are like and that go nicely with dinner. The Fourth of July Sangria sounds fruity, healthy, fresh, and fun. Perfect for the warmer weather.

One of my favorite wines when I did drink (I quit almost 2 years go for helath reasons) was Pinot Grigio. I am going to track down an alcohol-free version and try your recipes, though!

I am sure I would love both recipes and I’d like to try both the Pinot Grigio and the Tuscan Red by themselves. I have never had the brand Ogio, so thanks for this review.

  5. Both recipes sound delicious! I love sitting outside after dinner, enjoying a nice drink and admiring my flowers. Now if only the weather will cooperate!

  6. OK….that Fourth of July Sangria recipe sounds like a winner to me!
