How Your Child Can Give Back and Win a $1000 Monster High Skullership
When my son was in kindergarten, I was so happy to be able to quit my job so I could stay home and raise my son while my husband worked. During the day while my son was in school, I grew restless and looked for something to do which lead me to opening a business. But it was not enough. My friend introduced me to a non profit organization that I have been involved with for over 10 years. My son grew up in that group and worked along side with me during our events. He saw what it took to earn money in order to give back to others. From there my son got involved in a non profit group that focused on kids and he thrived there. I am so happy to know that he cares about service to others too. Instilling that in my child is something I am happy about.
I want to share with you a bit about another child that has been inspiring others to give back to their community and others. Lisa Cerone, mother of 13-year old Lulu, knows first-hand about the discipline and encouragement it takes to foster big aspirations from a small person. At the age of 10 years old, Lulu Cerone single-handedly created, organized, and executed a large-scale, school-wide fundraiser called LemonAID Warriors to help aid the earthquake victims in Haiti, raising more than $4,000. Four years later, Lulu’s philanthropic efforts total more than $20,000 raised.
These days, Lulu is inspiring friends, classmates and her community to give back in whatever ways they can by hosting their own Philanthro-Party. If your child is interested in this, check out the interview with LuLu video that answers these questions.
1) Lisa, when did you first realize Lulu’s interests in helping others and how did you encourage her to be successful at her philanthropic deeds?
2) Do you have any tips or advice for parents when it comes to influencing or empowering their children to turn their passions into something productive?
3) Lulu, how old were you when you realized you want to help others and what inspired you to start Lemon:Aid Warriors?
4) What is a Philanthro-Party?
5) Do you have any ideas you can share with us for hosting a successful Philanthro-Party?
6) Your efforts have grasped the attention of Monster High! How does it feel to see your self as a Monster High character?
7) Can you tell us about the “Ghouls Helping Ghouls™” Skullership and how to get involved?
TwoClassyChics also got the chance to ask LuLu and her mom some questions too! Check out the TwoClassyChics video for the answers to these questions:
1) How do you choose your projects to fund?
2) How many projects do you plan on working on each year?
3) Do your friends embrace what you are doing or have you found some that are not as philanthropic as yourself?
4) How much of your time is involved in your projects once you have decided to support a cause?
Lulu has also caught the eye of one of the most popular tween girl brands – Monster High® who, starting April 15th through June 9, will give Philanthro-party hosts a chance to win a $1,000 cash donation to their cause of choice. Here is what you and your teen need to know to participate:
