Homemade Doughnut Drops Recipe

A few days ago my daughter Jenelle made some homemade doughnut drops (I call them doughnut holes but she calls them drops) and today, we wanted to share the recipe with all of you.

Homemade Doughnut Drops Recipe

1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 medium egg
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
3/4 cup milk
additional vegetable oil

In a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. Stir in the milk, medium egg and vegetable oil until well blended.

In a large skillet, pour vegetable oil until it is 1″ deep. Bring it up to a boil over medium-high heat. Drop dough by the tablespoon into the hot and bubbly oil and simmer until doughnut drops are golden brown. Remove from oil and place them onto a plate lined with paper towels.

Mix together 1 1/2 cups of sugar with 1 tsp. cinnamon and place the mixture into a plastic zipper close bag. While the doughnut drops are still hot, drop them into the bag to coat them with the cinnamon/sugar mixture. Remove and let them cool on a plate. Enjoy!

This recipe sounds very good. My only questions are: if this is freshly grated nutmeg and how prominent is the nutmeg taste? I haven’t made doughnuts in so many years. This makes me nostalgic forthem and I might have to try themn again.

Looks delicious! My daughter and I just had a long john this morning but how convenient to have them at your home. I’ve made cinnamon sugar pretzel drops before in the oven, but never in the skillet. Love that you don’t have to use a deep fat fryer.

I remember making donuts when I was a teenager, and these remind me of them. I want to make these donuts. What an awesome recipe, and they will taste so fresh! I will make these soon. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe!
