Have You Ever Hired a Family Lawyer?

April 9, 2013 by Shelly

Good morning everyone…hope your Tuesday is going great so far. I have a question for all of you today and it’s this…

Have any of you ever gotten divorced and hired a family lawyer to help you get your issues resolved with the soon to be ex-spouse? If so, how did you find one to represent you and how did your experience with one turn out?

The reason I am asking is because my cousin Karen and her husband separated about 9 months ago and she is ready to divorce him. Her soon-to-be ex-husband is a very nasty guy with a drinking and hitting problem. He is not happy with her now wanting the divorce, so it’s time to hire someone to help her.

They have 4 children together and they are mostly teenagers…all of the kids are totally supporting their mom in this divorce because they know their dad has some major issues and refuses to get help for them.

Choosing a Lawyer- What You Should Look For

I want to help Karen as much as I can, so I got online today and was looking around for family attorneys in San Antonio Texas and found a few that I think she could hire to help her with this mess.

Personally, I have never been divorced, so I don’t know anything about hiring divorce attorneys or family law lawyers at all. My mother got divorced when I was 5 years old, so I was too young to remember anything about it. I guess being that young during a divorce is a good thing since I can’t even remember my parents ever being together.

So ladies, if you have any advice for me to share with my cousin Karen…I would love to hear all about it! Please leave your comments in our blog’s comment form and I will pass them along to her. Thanks!
