We are big coffee drinkers here in my household and let me tell you, we are pretty darn picky about the type of coffees that we drink! We like our coffee to be a medium-bodied coffee, smooth in it’s taste and it can never have a bitter taste to it. That’s right folks, we are indeed “coffee snobs” here in our home!
The great folks over at Gevalia sent us two bags of their House Blend Coffee to try out for all of you. I decided to serve their House Blend Coffee during our Easter Brunch and let me tell you, my guests were pretty pleased about it!
Before I get started with my review, I wanted to let you know about a recent independent study that was done…in this study the coffee drinkers compared Gevalia House Blend Coffee to Starbuck’s House Blend Coffee and here is some information about that.
Did you know that based on a national taste test[i] of Gevalia House Blend and Starbucks House Blend conducted by an independent third party, nearly 60 percent (59.7 percent) of coffee drinkers preferred the taste of Gevalia House Blend over Starbucks House Blend?
The results of the taste test made Gevalia want to understand more about coffee drinkers’ loyalty to taste when choosing a brew. A national survey[ii] showed exactly how serious coffee lovers are when it comes to a coffee they prefer.
· Look Good or Taste Good?: Nearly two-thirds of coffee drinkers would recommend their favorite coffee brand to family and friends (64 percent), while only 29 percent would recommend their favorite hair stylist.
· Brand Loyalty: Forty percent of coffee drinkers have driven to another store in search of their favorite brand.
· Worse Than Work?: Few things are worse than getting stuck late at work, but nearly four out of 10 coffee drinkers (39 percent) would rather stay late at the office than hand over their cup of coffee.
Our Thoughts: We had 11 people over to our home for Easter Brunch and 9 of the 11 were coffee drinkers. We brewed a pot of the Gevalia House Blend Coffee and filled up their coffee mugs with it. Some of our guests drank their coffee black, some with just cream and others added cream & sugar. For me personally, I do the cream and sugar thing!
Everyone who had coffee that day commented on how fabulous the coffee tasted. We all thought that it had a smooth taste, no bitter after-taste and the aroma was out-of-this-world! (after all, the aroma plays a big part too!).
The House Blend is definitely a “medium-bodied” coffee in my opinion and had a great taste to it. As soon as you “popped” open the Gevalia Coffee bag, you could smell that delicious coffee aroma oozing out. Fabulous! During our Easter Brunch, we made 3 full pots of coffee using this Gevalia House Blend and all of our brunch guests loved it! Some of our guests had 2 cups and others went back for 3. Yes folks, it is that good!

This does sound good! And interesting facts…I didn’t realize people were so loyal to their coffee!
When Gevalia had an offer of a new coffeepot and 4 different coffees I boughgt it and have been hooked on Gevalia ever since. I only drink decaf and they offer so many choices of flavors in the decaf coffee that I never tire of trying them.
I have been drinking Gevalia recently and it is SO good!
We have been Gevalia fans for over 10 years, ordering directly from Gevalia since it waasn’t in any supermarket at that time. The aroma of Gevalia coffee is alwyas marvelous and the taste never is bitter.
Unfortunately now we have to drink decaffeinated coffee, but it still is quite good.
I’m not a coffee drinker but i do love the smell of some coffees like Taster’s Choice (I add a tablespoon to brownie mix, yum) and Gevalia.
My husband will have to give it a try. Isn’t it funny how we all have our specific likes when it comes to coffee and how important it is. My husband likes his strong. He is the one adding extra scoopfuls of grounds before brewing. My daughter will try to get him to try something different because it is on sale but he just wants his. We wait for sales and stock up because you can’t just buy anything. I am interested to see if he will like Gevalia.
My mother is a hige Gevalia fan – although I am not a real coffee drinker I will have a cup of hers!
I’ve tried Gevalia coffee many times and I have always loved that no matter what type I brewed it never had that bitter after taste. And I love the way it smells. 🙂 After reading your review I now need a cup of Gevalia. Thanks for reviewing it.
