I have been walking lately but I have been noticing how much my strength in my arms and core has diminished. So when I heard about Kettlebells, I was intrigued. I did some research and thought this might be an easy way to add some strength training into my sedentary lifestyle. When I saw the Kettlebells themselves at the local store, I really liked how they were shaped and I knew this would be the right exercise for me. So, when Acacia Lifestyle came out with this DVD, I was thrilled!

My Thoughts:
From the very first section of the DVD , I knew I had found the exercises that I could do easily at home. The instructor explained exactly how to use the kettlebells safely and how they work on your body. He explained that this is a skill based exercise so there is some practice that will be occurring but the movements allow you to go as fast or as slow as you need. The weight of the kettlebell will give you power and momentum. But your form is most important and therefore the quality of the movement is where you get the proper workout. The Kettlebell and the movements you make will burn calories, build your strength and flexibility; all of these I really need.

In the introduction moves, the instructor shows you every hand grip and how to properly hold and align your body for the best workout. I really like that he stresses safety and is careful on showing the proper form. There are 3 simple grips used in the kettlebell and he goes through each one thoroughly. Another plus is that he gives tips through the sequences too. Much of the power is through your legs and with that you work on your core, arms, shoulders and back.

I started with a small bell because I am out of shape. The sizes that my store carries go from 7 lbs to 25 lbs. I did not want to hurt myself at the beginning and get discouraged. Plus I figured I could add a few more sizes as I progressed through as I am stronger in some places than others. I think I made a good decision, because even with the first few exercises I did, I could really feel it working!

This is a great DVD for beginners like me. Plus if you are looking for something different in your exercise routines that you already do, this may be something that you want to add. I am really enjoying this so far and I hope to continuing through each of the sections of exercises on this DVD. I am looking forward to getting my strength back! yay!
