Tips on How to Care and Clean Your Granite Flooring

My husband and I have owned our home for 16 years and while we have done some updating, there are some areas that we really need to work on. We really want to change out our old counter-tops and our living room floor. So we have been doing a lot of research on what the best substance will be for these projects.

Granite countertops are very popular because of their durability and the beauty of the stone. They can stand up to high temperatures and abuse. One thing that I was looking at is the new granite tiles that would be awesome as a counter or a floor. One thing that concerned me was how to care and clean this stone so I went to do some research on Granite Flooring, a stone floor provider and the care of granite flooring before choosing it as my floor.

Here are some tips on how to care & clean your granite floors.

* Sweep or dry mop your floor on a daily basis to remove debris that may dull or scratch the floor.
* Wipe up spills immediately. While the floor will be sealed, it can still absorb some liquids and can possibly stain depending on the liquid content
* To clean the granite floor, use a damp mop with warm water. If you need a deeper clean, you can use a bit of soap but that may dull your shine. Rinse several times to refresh the shine if you do use soap. Also you can use an approved granite cleaner on your flooring.
* Stay away from harsh soaps, abrasive cleaners, ammonia, vinegar, bleach and citrus based cleaners.
* Occasionally, check for damage and if new grout is needed. Once a year, you will need to reseal your granite that is in high traffic areas. Low traffic ares may only need this every 2 years.

That is it. Granite is a durable choice for flooring plus it appears to be easy to care for too. I think this may be on our final list of choices.
