St. Patrick’s Day Food and Traditions

St. Patrick's Day Food and Traditions

It’s hard to believe but we are now into the month of March and St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner! Wow, this year (2013) is really flying by fast!

Today, we would like to know how many of you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? Do any of you have any Irish heritage? Do you eat special Irish foods or do any Irish traditions on this special day?

I am not Irish, but I do love the fun that St. Patrick’s Day represents! My one friend is Irish and she goes all out for St. Patty’s Day! This year she is inviting hubby and I over to her home for a traditional Irish dinner. I can’t wait to see what she has planned for us!

We would love to hear all about the fabulous Irish dishes or traditions that you do for St. Patrick’s Day! Please let your comments below in our blog’s comment form!

I can not believe how time flies and St Patrick’s Day is next Sunday. This year I shall try to get my husband to wear green too!

Although I am not Irish I always enjoy celebrating holidays -so we usually have corned beef, cabbage and potaotes, and I wear something green

I’m half Irish and for as long as I can remember we’ve celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. There’s always the parade on Main Street and then corned beef and cabbage with potatoes. I love Irish soda bread especially warmed up with butter. Happy St. Patty’s Day.

How I spend my day on St. Patricks Day. To start off,my Moms birthday is on March 17th. And we would have a very nice supper prepared for her. And we all have to wear green. Either green clothes,or wearing something green. I miss celebrating this special day with her. On April 17th,2011. My Momma passed away from kidney problems. 1 month to the day after her birthday. It’s still so hard to grasp the thought that she isn’t here anymore.
Every time I go by the card section at the store I want to grab a card for her. Sometimes it was hard to get her a card for it being her birthday on St.Patricks day. It was either for the special day,and then buy her a regular card. But no,I searched high and low to find the very special card, just for my Momma. That’s how much I cared for her,she was so special being born on a very festive day. And if I can do anything different,I would shout it from the roof top,how special my Mom is !!

I am Irish and I do celebrate St. Paddy’s. I will be going to the Knights of Columbus Dinner. There will be a fabulous corned Beef dinner. I look forward to it. I also like to make Irish soda bread for afternoon tea.

I have a little Irish in me, and my daughter is very proud of it. I think she wears Ireland/green shirts all week. We celebrate with either a layered Irish shot or a shot of Irish Whisky. Nothing in particular for food…we try to do something green but I’ve always hated the smell of cooked cabbage so we don’t fix corned beef and cabbage. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you and your family. May all the luck and blessings of the Irish find their way to your door. 🙂
