Hiring an Electrician to Re-wire Our Old Home

March 26, 2013 by Shelly

Hiring an Electrician to Rewire Our Home

As you all know…we bought an older home 4 years ago and have been remodeling it. This home was built in the late 1960’s and the previous owners never updated it at all. One of the things that needed to be done, was new modernized electrical work.

Whether you are hiring an Electrician, it is very important to get a licensed professional to come in and do the job correctly.

When it came to hiring a professional to do the job, we first asked our friends and family members for some referrals on professionals that they have used in the past. From that, we compiled a list of 5 names of people we wanted to consider.

We gave each person a call that was on our list and told them about our electrical problems and that we wanted our entire house rewired. In addition to that, we wanted 8 new outlets installed, 5 new light switches and a new electrical fuse box put in. We knew what we wanted, now we just had to find the right person for the job.

We asked each candidate several questions and asked them for references of past jobs that they recently have completed. After verifying references, we finally selected one company for the massive job.

When the professional electrician came out to inspect our home, he was completely amazed that our house had never caught on fire. He found all kinds of things wrong with the electrical wiring in our home. We got a price quote and hired him on the spot!

About 2 weeks later he arrived and immediately got to work. He worked 8 hours a day for 11 days and finally the job was complete. We were really impressed with him as he cleaned up after himself as he worked and he had a really friendly, but professional personality.

Now that the house has been rewired, we are going to have the electrician come back next month and install new wiring out on our back deck, so that we can hook up and install our new jacuzzi. I am really looking forward that project getting done!

You always give good tips about hiring any kind of workers, but you are also lucky that you found one who was efficient, friendly yet professional and cleaned up after himself too. I hope the jacuzzi installation goes just as easily.
