Dusting and Cleaning Mini Blinds

Dusting and Cleaning Mini BlindsDusting and cleaning mini blinds are one of my most hated house cleaning tasks. It’s time consuming and I always end up with a few minor cuts from the slats while doing it. Each window can take me 30 minutes to clean if I’m giving them a good deep cleaning.

Why dust and clean them? They attract dust and pollen that’s in the air which is not good for us to breathe. You want to eliminate it by dusting them frequently and deep cleaning them seasonally. That’s right, cleaning them needs to be a regular household chore!

When doing your weekly chores it’s perfectly find to use a wand that is made specifically for dusting mini blinds. Just make sure that it’s a good one as you want it to trap the dust in the fiber and not be tossing it back into the air. Wiping them down with a damp cloth is an acceptable way to clean them too! Whichever method that you prefer.

Seasonally (four times a year) you need to give them a good deep cleaning. I like to take them outside and hose them down with the garden hose after I’ve sprayed them with a non-toxic household cleaner. Make sure you get them sparkling clean. Hang them up outside and let them air dry for several hours.

Alternative method: Spray them down in your shower and hang them up inside the shower to drip dry.

If you take the time to dust them during your weekly household chores that will prevent the dirt and grime from really building up over time. Plus, you and your family will be breathing cleaner air.
