Today I would like to talk to all of you about the Boar’s Head heart-healthy deli meats. How many of you have ever tried any of their deli meats? If you are not familiar with Boar’s Head, they make certified heart-healthy deli meats like: roast beef, roasted chicken breast, all natural uncured ham, all natural roasted turkey breast, all natural smoked turkey breast and many more!
Did you know that heart disease is the nation’s leading cause of death for both men and women? Heart disease runs really high in my husband’s family, so I am always looking for good-for-your-heart foods and recipes. We can all reduce our risk by eating more heart-healthy foods.
The Boar’s Head deli meats are low in fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and meat specified limits for sodium. Sodium intake is a big concern in my own personal diet. All of the Boar’s Head deli meats taste fresh and are very versatile when it comes to your family’s favorite recipes. Personally, I am a roasted turkey breast fan and I would love a big fat turkey & cheese sandwich right about now!

EverRoast Chicken Quinoa Pilaf Recipe
2 tbspOlive oil
1 cup yellow onion, finely diced
1 cup celery, finely diced
1 cup carrots, finely diced
1 cup Quinoa, dry
1 tsp black pepper
2 cups low sodium chicken stock
¼ cup Golden raisins
½ lb. EverRoast Oven Roasted Chicken Breast, diced
1 cup green onion, finely diced
In a heavy, medium sized saucepan, heat oil on medium. Add yellow onion, celery and carrots. Cook, stirring frequently, until the vegetables are soft (about 4-5 minutes). Add Quinoa and pepper and continue cooking, stirring vigorously, until the grain is coated in the oil and smells toasted (about 1 minute). Add the chicken stock, bring to a boil, reduce to simmer and cover. Cook until most of the liquid is absorbed (about 20 minutes). Turn off heat. Add raisins & EverRoast Chicken, cover and let sit for 10 minutes. Place in a serving dish and top with green onion.

Some people arent aware that you can get lunch meat cut in one big chunk instead of sliced. Thanks for the recipe – looks good . It great that they have some heart healthy lunch meats too
I have eaten Boars Head products for years and I am glad that they have the heart healthy line. I also like your quinoa recipe
I have been wondering about healthier lunch meats. I wasn’t sure what brands were good. Thanks! With all the processed items we eat, it’s nice to know we are at least trying to be healthier. 🙂 I’ve heard really good things about quinoa and recently bought some. I am very interested in tying it all together. How can you go wrong with “heart healthy.”
Boar’s head is my favorite luncheon meat but I stopped purchasing them when I learned they had sodium nitrate. I haven’t seen the natural meats in our stores yet, but will keep an eye out for them! Thanks for the heads up!
