When it comes to shaving, it is really important that a man use an after shave product to keep his face well-moisturized after shaving. Let’s face it, shaving can be brutal to a man’s delicate skin!
When it comes to men’s after shave, there are at least 4 different types out in the retail marketplace and today, we wanted to educate you on the different types available.
After Shave Lotion: These classic types of lotions have been around for many years and are of a liquid consistency. Many of them contain essential oils, preservatives, emulsions, protein, fragrances and other ingredients to help moisturize and soothe a man’s face after shaving.
After Shave Balm: Some men enjoy using a moisturizing balm after shaving and these balms usually come in a stick form and is creamy in it’s consistency. Just like their liquid counterparts (lotions) they are formulated with moisturizing essential oils, preservatives, emulsions, proteins and fragrances. If a man likes to travel a lot or doesn’t want to mess with messy liquids, a balm is the way to go.
After Shave Cream: Gaining in popularity the past few years are natural after shave creams which are usually packaged in round jars. They are loaded with essential oils, preservatives, emulsions, proteins and fragrances just like the previous two options. If a man is suffering with very dry skin before and after shaving, a moisturizing cream would be ideal for his after-shaving needs.
After Shave Gel: This type of product is available out in the retail marketplace and while some men enjoy using a gel, others do not. Just like the products mentioned above, they contain essential oils and other moisturizing ingredients. Some men have complained that gels seem to clog their skin’s pores and others swear by the gel’s moisturizing benefits.
What it all basically boils down to is this…Every man who shaves has his own personal preference on the type of shaving products that he likes to use. When in doubt on what to buy, buy him the classic after shave lotion or one of the newer after shave balms.

I did not know that there were 4 different kinds of after shave3 products. My husband uses the lotion the most. I shall ask him bout the balm and cream to see if he would like to try one of them
