TopChef Season 10 Recap: Cranking Up to the Finale

February 21, 2013 by Classystaff

bravo, top chef
As you know, we have been blogging for the Top Chef season 10 this year and we have had some great fun following the show and all of the delicious recipes the chefs have been preparing along the way. Have you been watching it too? As sad as it seems, the season is winding down and the finale is going to be next week on Wednesday, February 27th at 10/9c on Bravo. Who has been your favorite chef so far?

It has been a tough competition and I have a prediction. Personally I think that Chef Brooke is going to take it home although since Kristin is the winner of the Last Chance Kitchen and is coming into the finale, it is going to be a tough contest. Kristin is an awesome cook and competitor but I think Brooke will take it all. Who do you think is going to win?

I was watching the show last week when it was Sheldon, Brooke and Josh and it was refreshing to see that these people actually cared for each other. After being together for so many weeks while doing this show and seeing that the 3 that were left standing really respect and care about each other. Josh’s wife had their baby, without him there. Honestly, I don’t know how Josh did it. I am sure he had to just wanted to run out of there and get home quickly, poor thing. But the others kept thinking about him and his new baby. Maybe it is no wonder that he was the one that was eliminated. Maybe he chose a super hard dish to prepare on purpose, knowing that it would not be perfect and it would let him get home to his family. Who even knows?

I think that episode made this season very memorable for me. The fighting and backbiting behind the scenes and on camera, while it might make for good TV, it is not a positive reflection of how people should compete, in my opinion. For this episode, the chefs shared what compelled them to become a chef and when they knew it was meant to be. Then they cooked a dish reflective on that memory.

Brooke’s dish to me was an awesome take on her past as a child, from when she knew she wanted to cook, to today as a serious competitor and excellent chef. It was a blending of Chicken (the simple mom cook) and Quail (the professional chef) and it looked delicious! Even though she was not sure how to represent her feelings in this dish, it came through in the end. I think that the excellence in her skills as a fabulous chef made the difference.

This week, they are in Los Angeles getting ready for the finale. It is part one of the finale and it was an interesting show. Cooking in Tom’s kitchen has to be exciting and scary at the same time! Talk about pressure!  I will not spoil any more of the show for you so you can watch it yourself.  I did feel bad for the person that went home since when you have come so far, it is not a complete circle to leave early.  Plus the guest judges are a treat too!

I have my DVR set for next Wednesday Feb 27th already so I can watch the finale, cheer on team Brooke and watch her take $125,000 home and be the Top Chef.  This is has been a fabulous season and I am so thankful to be able to share the highlights with you all!  Make sure to watch part one this week on reruns and watch next week for the Finale.
