Tips for Buying and Laundering Cat Pet Beds

Tips for Buying and Laundering Cat Pet BedsOur cat has 4 pet beds in various places around our home. Naturally kitty cats like to change up their sleeping places on a regular basis. We’re always laundering and moving around his cat beds to different areas to keep him happy. On average, he’ll have 3-4 places that he’ll use for a week and then he’s looking for new places to hang out.

When shopping for pet beds it’s important to make sure that they’re easy to clean. We recommend that you pick a size that will fit comfortably in your washing machine. If you go too big or too thick (heavy) you won’t be able to launder them at home. You want to keep them clean and germ-free by laundering them on a regular basis.

We always launder them on the delicate or gentle cycle with a mild laundry or pet laundry detergent. Make sure that all of the soap and suds get thoroughly rinsed out…even if you have to run it through a rinse cycle for the second time. Soaps and detergents can irritate a cats skin. You want them clean but with no soapy residue.

Finally, you’ll want to let them air dry. We don’t recommend tossing them into the dryer. If you do, you’ll want to use the no heat or low heat setting. We hang them up to dry on a nice warm day outside on our clothesline. To get them hung up…just use clamps (made for the workshop) since regular clothespins won’t hold them. Let they hang until they’re thoroughly dry.
