Not Your Mothers Book… On Dogs by Dahlynn and Ken McKowen: Book Review

There is nothing in my book quite as heartwarming as a dog. My first dog was really my Mom’s. My Dad did not like having animals around in the home, but she convinced him she needed a dog. Dogs really become a part of our lives so much. Their unconditional love and understanding crosses so many realms of our existence, for many it is a life changing experience to own a dog.

I was pleased to review a lovely book on Dogs and their funny quirky selves. From the authors of the Not Your Mothers Book… series, I am pleased to introduce you to a new publication of great stories all about dogs. You need to check out this one!

Not Your Mothers Book... On Dogs by Dahlynn and Ken McKowen
Who let the dogs out?!
Watch out! The dogs are loose and in rare form in this very funny and endearing anthology about our canine friends.

We are dog people. While some many think we’re a bit off our rockers—especially them cat people—we don’t give a hoot. Our fur kids are our babies, our children. They are our trusted companions. They ask for nothing in return. They shower us with their loyalty and love. Inside, you’ll read puppy-dog antics and silly-canine adventures, with a surprise or two thrown in, all of which will make you very happy the dogs are running free on the pages of this wonderful book.

Not Your Mother’s Book (NYMB) is a new anthology for a new century. Series creators Dahlynn and Ken McKowen spent 10 years developing titles for the world’s bestselling anthology series [Chicken Soup for the Soul] prior to launching NYMB. But their series is very different; NYMB books are contemporary, fun and even daring! No sad, sappy or death and dying stories—EVER!

Not Your Mother’s Book . . . On Dogs is the third book in the series.

Chapter titles
Puppy Love
Every Dog Has Its Day
Companions Like None Other

Dog Treats
In the Doghouse

My Thoughts:
As a Dog Lover, I knew I had to read this book. It is a compilation of stories written by people from all over and their heartwarming stories of love and dogs. From the very first story, I was compelled to keep reading. Some of the stories are funny, some a bit sad but all of them will put a smile on your face. As a dog owner and lover myself, I could relate to many of these stories. I would find myself nodding my head, thinking “oh, my Max did that” or “yes, that sounds just like Louie”.

This is a lovely, feel good book on sharing your love of dogs with others. If you have children that love dogs and animals, there are many stories that would be awesome to share with your kids. The individual stories are usually 2-3 pages long so that makes it a quick and easy book to read. I read this in 2 evenings and while there were a few tears from stories I could relate to, there was always a smile on my face at the end.

For a feel good book that you can read anytime, grab this one. There is nothing quite like it and you are going to look back and remember fond memories and antics of your own dogs. This one is a keeper!
