Unlike a lot of women, I can usually grow nice long nails for 10 months out of the year. The only 1 or 2 months out of the year where I run into a problem is when I am in the hospital for an extended amount of time.
Well, last month was that time and I spent 5 miserable weeks in the hospital getting some much need medical care. Within one week, my nails were dry, brittle, splitting and breaking. By week #2, they were all short and looked like a war zone. Geesh, what is a girl to do? Well, I have the answer for all of you today with the Gel Manicure Starter Kit from Sally Hansen. Here is some info:
Speed up your gel manicure and get the same lasting results with the Sally Hansen Salon InstaGel Strips™, a breakthrough, easy-to-use innovation exclusive to Sally Hansen featuring UV-cured real nail polish appliqués. The two-step gel manicure is quick and simple: Just cleanse nails and apply the nail polish strips, then apply the gel top coat. Cure nails under the Mini LED light, swipe nails with the cleaning pad, and voila—maximum shine and wear. Available in 16 solid colors and 8 designs and infused with nourishing Vitamin E, the easy-apply strips come off fuss-free with Acetone polish remover. The Starter Kit features everything you need for a complete Salon InstaGel Strips™ manicure, including:

• Quick-Cure gel top coat

While in the hospital, my darling daughter brought the kit into me and treated me to a manicure. It was really nice to be spoiled by her for 2 hours and I really enjoyed our visit together. The kit I received for the review was the “Shell We Dance” #40295 which is a great starter kit for those who like neutral nails…hey, that would be me!
The kit comes with everything that you need and she started off by reading the included instruction sheet. Once done, we cleansed my nails and she applied the gel polish strips. Once done, she applied the gel top coat. We then left my nails cure under the included mini LED lamp and finished them up with the cleansing pad. All of this took less than 15 minutes to do per hand, so a total of 30 to 35 minutes and she was done.
I must admit, they looked 90% better…instantly and it was super nice to see some sheer color on my nails again. They stayed looking nice for around 9 or 10 days and then I noticed the normal wear and tear that you get. Overall, super pleased with the results.
Now, this is something I wouldn’t normally use weekly since I can and do grow nice long, natural nails. However, for special occasions or for when I am sick and need a pick-me-up…this all-in-one gel manicure kit is fabulous! wootwoot!

Praise God you’re feeling better!! Take care, I’m going to check this gel nails tip out. Thanks
Wow ! I want this kit. My nails look horrible and I would like to look down and see nice nails for a change. I’m definitely going to get this. Thanks for the review.
You are lucky to be able to grow long nails. Unfortuntely I bite my nails, but I have recently started using more nail polish. Putong on the base coat and taking it off every week does seem to help.
I nails grow good n i love sally Hansen polish
I can’t grow nails, no matter what I eat, do or don’t do! I had tried the old-fashioned way of doing nails but never tried gel. They look good when a pro does it. I would luv to have nice nails esp for photos, I’m going to check this out!!
Hope you are feeling better since you are out of the hospital, that sounds like no fun at all!! Glad you got a little pampering done while you were in there!!
I hope having some fashionable names made you feel better and smile. I recently had a gel manicure and really enjoyed it. I was wondering if the kits on the market would work. I don’t do much with my nails, but it’s always nice when they look good.
This sounds great and I am so envious of you being able to grow your nails like you do. Mine are super brittle and the minute they start getting long, they will break. What a wonderful daughter you have. So nice of her to look out for her momma like she did.
Yeah, my daughter can be great (at times LOL). She was really great this time around helping me out and taking care of her dad while I was MIA in the hospital.
This morning she came over and went out and did my grocery shopping for me which was fabulous since I can’t go out and about yet. I am very grateful for her help.
My secret to growing long, natural nails is to ALWAYS keep them painted with a base coat. I love the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails base coat. Every 4 or 5 days, I take it off with a natural nail enamel remover and put it on again. If I keep my nails coated in it, my nails grow long & hard.
The hospital clipped off all my nails as I was scratching myself up thanks to hives (allergic reaction to meds)…so they were a total wreck in there. Growing them out again now.
