Classic Danish Butter Cookies

January 18, 2013 by Classystaff

Classic Danish Butter CookiesHow many of you enjoy snacking on those classic Danish style Butter Cookies? Our family loves them! We will enjoy just snacking on them or dunking them in milk, hot cocoa or with our morning coffee. I was given my first tin of those classic cookies about 25 years ago and have loved them ever since!

If you’ve never tried them…they’re a buttery-style of vanilla cookie. They’re not fancy things at all but they sure are good! You typically see them packaged in metal tin containers in your retail stores, especially during the holiday season. Hey, I would rather have a tin of Danish Butter Cookies than a nasty fruitcake! Just stating the facts folks!

They cost just as much as a package of regular cookies you find in the snack aisle of your grocery store. However, I find that they have less calories than most of those other styles of cookies. Perfect for those watching their weight but still enjoy a few cookies every now and then.

After the Christmas holiday season go into the food gift aisle. You’ll often find them marked down (if any are left) for 50 to 75% off regular price…just to move out the ones in holiday designed tins! Last year I purchase 10 of them on clearance after the Christmas holiday for $1.50 each. I kept 3 for the family and donated the other 7 to a local food bank who were more than happy to receive them.

So…have you tried them and do you like them?
