I am pretty nostalgic this year. I am really missing my family and since they are 2000 miles away, holidays are a tough time for me. So I was thinking that maybe this year I would go back to some more traditional decorations and have some fun. I am sure that growing up, many of you decorated with popcorn, just like we did. I remember many hours sitting in from of the television watching Christmas specials stringing popcorn with my brother and sister. Did your family do that too?
So this year, I thought it might be a good idea to look for some cool popcorn supplies and find some big fat popcorn so that we can string it easily. Remember the old popcorn makers that you used on the stove with the flippy lid? Well I found one of those too! I have not see one of those in years! Wouldn’t that make an awesome family gift this year?
Just think about that. Nice popcorn maker and some natural popcorn, maybe some flavorings, if you are into that. Not me! I am a purist; butter and salt only for me! Then you can throw in a few new DVD’s and you have a fabulous family gift for your own family or a friend. I love this idea. Family movie night and a cool popcorn maker that makes delicious popcorn for a great snack. Yumm
Well, now that I am tripping on this great idea, I guess I better get to stringing some popcorn – au naturel – and maybe throw in some cranberries for a beautiful nostalgic Christmas decoration this year. I think some cute candy canes hanging on the tree and red bows will bring it all together too!

Oh, my goodness!!! I can SOO relate to this, and it brings back memories so fond. Growing up, our Christmas tree was always an edible tree, we would string popcorn and cranberries, make gingerbread men for decorations, also hang popcorn balls, candie canes and anything else that could be eaten!!!
Sounds like a plan – This would make a great Christmas Eve or movie night. It’s great to pop the popcorn, turn off the lights, and everyone get comfy for a family favorite…Christmas movies work well here. You can even have the tree sparkling in the background.
Love the idea but with 2 food motivated springer spaniels popcorn would not last on my tree – my tree would be all over the floor
Sounds like a fun night to me, watching movies and stringing popcorn. We didn’t really do too much of that but what a fun way to spend time with family
