Long Waiting Times at Doctor’s Offices

December 26, 2012 by Classystaff

Long Waiting Times at Doctor's OfficesOver the past 15 years the waiting times at doctor’s offices has gotten way out of control. These days you can expect to wait several weeks…if not a few months to get a new patient appointment. When a patient is having a medical problem often times they can’t wait weeks or months to be seen. This is ridiculous and has gotten so out of control.

Then…there’s these waits for established patients who came down sick or have a minor injury. You call into your doctor’s office and they tell you that they’re booked for the next week. You can make an appointment for next week or go to Urgent  Care or the Emergency Room. Say what? Urgent care and the ER are expensive! Urgent care is for things that can’t wait…like moderate illnesses or injuries. The Emergency Room should be used for severe life-threatening illnesses and injuries.

When I call my doctor I don’t want to wait a week for a bladder infection, a sinus infection, bronchitis or some other type of minor to moderate illness. That’s not cool and shouldn’t be tolerated by patients! If the wait time is that long then you need to hire MORE staff! Patients shouldn’t have to sit around and suffer waiting a week. Patients shouldn’t have to shell out $500 or more to go to an Urgent Care facility because a doctor’s office is booked-up and under-staffed. Something has got to change!!!

It’s time for all of us to start calling our government officials and representatives demanding change. We need to call our local hospitals and doctor’s offices….demanding change! Nothing is going to change until WE THE PEOPLE (the patients) demand it.
