Its Time to Update Your Home’s Lighting
I have been so lucky to be able to spend some time with my mother in law at her home this week. After her husband passed away a few years ago, she made the decision to move from their home in Oregon back to where she was raised and her other kids live in OKC. She was lucky to find an older duplex in a nice area that she could afford and it is perfect for her! Her kids (except us) all live in the culdesac so she has them all around her.
Because her home is older, it needs some work done to it. She was able to add new flooring in the kitchen and living areas and the bathroom in next. But she is older and does not have a lot of extra money. One thing that has been driving me nuts this week is the lack of lighting in the kitchen and dining areas. So she got extra Christmas gifts this year as we went out and bought her some new lighting and locks for her home.
The lighting was a critical need. Her kitchen is dark and it is very enclosed so there is no natural light at all. Plus in the summer is is super hot and uncomfortable. So we picked out a new ceiling fan with some spot lights on it that is going to be awesome for her. For the dining area, we found a gorgeous barrel light that hangs from a metal rod and is encircled with wood strips. This is going to match all of the other wood in her dining area and I am so excited about getting it hung. Brighter and pretty too!
The locks we got are also very much a needed item for her home. The front door and the door leading to the garage was not the most secure so we found a nice selection and got just the right ones so we know she has the security she needs in her home. That is piece of mind!
I am feeling so much better now that she will have sufficient lighting and locks for her home. Sprucing things up in the home doesn’t have to cost a lot and it looks awesome when it is done. She is so excited too!
