Help Gallo Family Vineyards Raise $100,000 With The Every Cork Counts Program

If there is one thing that bothers me the most is that there are hungry people in the USA. In a prosperous country such as our own, we should be making sure that everyone has nutritious food to eat. There are hundreds of thousands of people that slip between the cracks because the family may make $50 a month to much to qualify for help or there is no one that realizes that pride is stopping some people from asking for help. I know how that feels personally. There are some awesome programs that are helping feed America and for that I am happy, but they all rely on donations to exist.

One program that I know is struggling is Meals on Wheels. This program focuses on the Senior population that is missed by many other programs. Many of these seniors do not have anyone to check on them to make sure they are eating or have enough food. Many seniors are house bound and have a hard time getting out. Who is checking on them?

This holiday season, Gallo Family Vineyards offers Americans the opportunity to help fight senior hunger by doing what they normally do; enjoying family, friends, and great wine!

For the third year in a row, Gallo Family Vineyards has partnered with the Meals On Wheels Association of America in the fight against senior hunger with their Every Cork Counts campaign. The program aims to raise $100,000 to benefit the organizations efforts to deliver meals to seniors in need throughout the country.

Here is how it works: Americans can support Meals On Wheels by mailing in a cork from any one of the winery’s award-winning wines. For every Gallo Family Vineyards’ cork mailed back between August 1 and December 31, 2012, a $5 donation, up to $90,000, will be made to Meals On Wheels. (Another $10,000 will be raised on Facebook). Stop by the Gallo site linked above for where to mail in your corks.
