Hands-on Discovery Lab for Kids by Learning Resources

December 13, 2012 by Shelly

Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Learning Resources who makes a wide variety of educational toys and games for children. When you visit the Learning Resources web site…you can shop as a Parent or as a Teacher. Furthermore, you can shop by age group, category, by brand or by subject. I love how user-friendly the Learning Resources site is!

You will find activity sets & books, construction sets, active learning & play sets, discovery & exploration sets, electronic toys, games, puzzles, water & sand toys and a whole lot more! Everything on their site is extremely well-made and affordable.

Our Review: The great folks over at Learning Resources sent us the “Hands-on Discovery Lab” to review for all of you. This product is made for ages 4 & up and comes nicely packaged in a storage box.

The Discovery Lab Includes: (1) 14″ by 9″ by 8″ high see-through lab with a snap-on lid, (2) removable washable non-latex gloves, (2) side caps and an activity guide.

This Discovery Lab is great for kitchen experiments, terrariums, worm farms, ant farms, you name it…pretty much the kid’s can do anything with it.

Our Princess G is 3 1/2 years old now and has been slowly getting into more “scientific” things. Since receiving the “Hands-on Discovery Lab” we have used it for homemade science projects like: homemade playdoughs, silly slime and other “foodie” type of experiments and play time. In addition, we have 2 pet semi-aquartic turles that are about 6″ in diameter each. She has never been able to “play” with them or handle them since they spend 80% of their day in water. We have gotten them out of the aquarium and placed them into the Discovery Lab (dry with no water) so that she can watch them upclose & personal. We then tell her all about them & explain to her about some turtle facts. This is a great way for her to observe them out of water! Not only that, she slips her little hands into the gloves so she can touch their shells. Great for sensory exploration!

We love this Discovery Lab and once spring hits, we will be taking it outside so she can discover some new things…perhaps make her own worm farm, ant farm or something along those lines!

You can purchase the Learning Resources Primary Science Hands-on Discovery Lab directly from Amazon for a great price!
