Gluten Free Cooking for Dummies Cookbook

December 2, 2012 by Classystaff

My mom was diagnosed with Celiac Disease a few years before she passed away. She had struggled with stomach and intestinal issues for quite a while before and really did a great job managing her food once she know what was going on. Sadly, I am showing signs off and on of similar issues which is why I was so thrilled to be able to review a copy of the newest book from the Dummies line, Gluten Free Cooking for Dummies.
Gluten Free Cooking for Dummies Cookbook
Gluten-Free Cooking for Dummies 2nd edition
written by: Danna Korn and Connie Sarros
ISBN:978-1-118-39644-5
published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

I had originally thought that this was a recipe book, but it is so much more than that. When I got this, I started thumbing through the pages thinking I would see recipes but it also contains valuable information on how to find and select the right ingredients and use them. There are valuable tips on how to convert your current favorite recipes to gluten-free so that I can continue to use them. That is awesome!

I love reading through this book. It has so many useful tools in here. I learned so much about the issues with gluten and especially love learning things like what I can and can’t use in gluten-free cooking; hot to spot the hidden gluten in foods – that is super important; tips on how to save money when you go shopping, and even managing your weight. The Gluten-Free Cooking For Dummies is pack full of 150 wheat-and gluten-free recipes on top of all this valuable info.

I am thrilled with this book. I was totally expecting just a recipe book, but I am so pleased with the fact that it has so much more information about living the gluten free life and learning how to not miss it or feel deprived. This is an awesome find and I cannot wait to start working some of these recipes and cooking tips into my routine and get healthier along the way.

I’m not a gluten-free person, but I have a relative who is. This is a great idea, I’d like to have it so I won’t freak out or have to go to a vegan restaurant $$$ when they come!

My daughter-in-law has recently been trying to get away from gluten products. I didn’t realize how many basic things we use are gluten. I’ve noticed our grocery store has a gluten free section now. I’m glad that there are now cook books and products specifically for this.
