Investing in Safety Signs for the Workplace

My husband has been working in the same career field for over 33 years and is the service manager for a very large apartment and townhouse community here in Pennsylvania. When I speak of this property being large, well, it is!

We have over 600+ rental units (apartments and townhouses), an on-site gym, leasing office, maintenance office & shop area, playground, dog park/dog run, walking paths, property community center and more! It’s almost like a “little city” all on it’s own!

Well, my husband wants to make sure that all employees, residents and visitors to the rental community are safe at all times, so he is going to update and invest in new safety signs for the property.

Safety Signs for the Workplace

He wants to get new signs for the maintenance building, work shop, community center and for some of the “common areas” around the property.

Since he values my opinion, he took me into work with him a few days ago, so that I could walk with him through all of the areas he wants new signage for. I had never realized how big the property was, until I had to spend 4 hours with him walking through it!

Once we returned, we got online and did some research and learned a few important things.

* Signs should be of decent size so that employees, residents and visitors can see them clearly! Don’t skimp on purchasing small signs to save money…get the best size available.

* The font and printing on the signs should be “clean and clear” looking! No fancy or small fonts! All wordage on the sign should be clearly visible and easily read.

*  If hanging signs outdoors in the weather elements, get signs that are specifically made for outdoor use! You don’t want the lettering or coloring to fade or wear off. Furthermore, you don’t want them rusting, so purchase the appropriate type of signage for outdoor use.

* Purchase your safety signs from an approved supplier and if possible, one that guarantees their workmanship.

I enjoyed spending some time with my hubby at work and I learned quite a few things about signage. I always enjoy learning new things and I love to pass on that knowledge to all of you who read our blog. Have a great week everyone!

This is a compensated post however, all the points and views are my own.
