Incorporating Low Fat Cheese into Your Daily Diet

November 2, 2012 by Shelly

Cheese and Veggie Pizza

We are big cheese eaters here in our family and every day, we use cheese in one way or another! We enjoy using cheese in our breakfast, lunch and/or dinner dishes, and often times you will find us snacking on it too!

Cheese can be really high in calories, so we prefer to use low fat cheese in most of our recipes. Some of our favorite types of cheeses are American, Colby Jack, Cheddar, Sharp Cheddar, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Pepper Jack and Swiss, to name just a few!

During breakfast time, we enjoy using cheese in our omelets, breakfast burritos, on scrambled egg sandwiches and in delicious tasting breakfast casseroles.

At lunchtime, we enjoy grilled cheese sandwiches, hot ham & cheese sandwiches, cold cut sandwiches, hoagies, pizza mini muffins, hot & creamy cheese soups and on our cheese steak sandwiches.

During dinnertime, we love using cheese on our spaghetti & meatballs, in burritos & enchiladas, on cheese burgers, in baked macaroni & cheese, scalloped potatoes, twice-baked potatoes, on grilled pizzas and so much more!

You can incorporate a wide variety of different cheeses into your snacking too! We love to slice up cheese and dip it into fondue or snack on cheese topped crackers.

Real cheese (not imitation cheese) is very healthy for you and is high in calcium, so we try to incorporate cheese into our diets every day.

We too love cheese. Sometimes I have it for breakfast – in an omelet or ricotta with fresh fruit. Grilled cheese is usually for lunch and dinner is a lot like what you stated. We like all the cheeses you mentioned plus Havarti and Fontina, but not Blue Cheeses
