Stocking stuffers are on my shopping list now that the big stuff has been figured out. One of the things I used to love to get my son was 5 packs of his favorite bubble gum. He only got it two times a year, on his Birthday and at Christmas, and he really looked forward to it. Now that he is older, it is not so much of a treat, but I have a super cute gift idea for your little ones that love candy and gum treats. It is a Make Your Own Chewing Gum Kit from Glee Gum and it is a cool idea!
Glee Gum is a fun treat for the kids because of the all natural ingredients. It is made from sustainably harvested Chicle and it has NO preservatives, artificial colors, flavors or fake sugars. That is what I am talking about! So I thought it would be fun to make some Chewing Gum just to see what it would do, so Glee Gum was kind enough to send me over a kit.
It seems rather easy – just a microwave or an oven will do it so I enlisted the help of my hubby and we set out to make some gum! All we did was boil some water and place the tray in the water so it would float. In the tray is the gum base and you are boiling the water until it melts and become gooey. Once it is at the right consistency, You then mix in the corn syrup, powder sugar and the flavor packet. You also spread out some of the sugar onto a cutting board and you then form into your pieces. A little goes a long way. This kit should get you up to 50 pieces of gum! Hey, we did it and it tastes pretty good too! We used the Cherry flavor and tried a bit of the peppermint too. This was Too fun!
I also was sent over a few of their sample boxes to try their other flavors and they sure brought back some memories. I don’t think I have chewed gum in several years. The flavors were good. The Bubble gum tastes just like I remember and the tangerine was my other favorite.
