Happy Halloween Year 2012
Halloween…it’s not one of my favorite times of the year. Why? Because the weather is starting to cool down, the trees are dropping their leaves and pretty soon we’ll all be cooped up indoors. Well, at least those who live up north. With that said, my grandchildren enjoy Halloween!
The grandkids like getting all dressed up in costumes and attending various parties. They really like going out on Trick or Treat night to collect candy. They often have contests with their friends to see who comes up with the best costume. Which one of them collects the most candy or the best chocolate candy. Kids these days come up with all kinds of things.
Then you toss-in all of the adults. In our neighborhood the adults are always trying to out-do one another with their outdoor Halloween decorating. Who has the best decorations every year seems to change. Who has the scariest house? Who’s giving out the best candy? Who’s hosting a Halloween party and when. I personally do a little bit of decorating but I don’t go overboard with it.
One thing that I’ve been noticing is that retail stores have been putting out their Halloween decor and costumes earlier and earlier every year. I’m sorry, but I don’t want to see it in early August! On top of that, it’s getting expensive! Costumes can cost you $50 and up! The cost of candy can run you $25 or more. It has become too commericalized for my taste. Just saying!
