I am a first-time mother to a beautiful little 3 year old girl. Motherhood has been a challenge for me at times, since I have had no prior experience with it. I am often times calling my mother or grandmother and asking for their “motherly” advice and at times, those calls were made at 4am.
“The Mommy MD Guide to the Toddler Years” soft-cover book has more than 900 tips that 62 doctors who are also mothers use during their children’s toddler years. The advice and tips inside the book are the same tips that these doctors/mothers have used themselves while parenting toddlers.
The tips inside this book are proven to work and instead of lists of dry, boring tips, the advice is presented as easy-to-read, often humorous, anecdotes and stories. While most books shy away from mentioning specific brands, products and stores, throughout this book you will see that the doctors recommend specific brands, products and stores.

Book Synopsis: The Mommy MD Guide to the Toddler Years offers trusted, reliable advice on all aspects of the toddler years. You’ll read how Mommy MD Guides faced the challenges of picky eating, potty training, tantrums and night terrors. You’ll also learn how Mommy MD Guides celebrated birthdays and holidays with their toddlers and enjoyed playdates, shopping trips, and vacations. These Mommy MD Guides generously shared the wisdom and tips that they learned to make their own children’s toddler years more enjoyable.
My Thoughts: The book is broken down into 20 easy-to-read chapters which start with Chapter 1 being on Growth and Development and finishing with Chapter 20 which is on Sleep. I decided to start on chapter one even though my daughter is beyond the early toddler years because I would love to get pregnant again next year and get ahead in the “motherly knowledge” game.
After a few days I finally got up to one of my favorite chapters in the book, Chapter 13 which is on Potty Training. My daughter is 95% potty trained during the daytime hours but at night time, well, 2 nights a week she has accidents. I loved the tip in this section about how as parents we shouldn’t punish a child for having an accident. I never punish her for it, but often times her father will yell at me to do so. (I always refuse). I made her father read this chapter in the book and he has totally “changed his tune” on how we deal with potty training and potty accidents.
There are so many tips and helpful advice in this book (from cover to cover) you will learn something new! Matter of fact, I am getting ready to read it a second time so that I can take my time & really digest all of the information in it. Once I am done with the book, I will be passing it onto my cousin Steph who just had her second child 2 weeks ago.Disclaimer: Jenelle has personally reviewed the product listed above.
