Two weekends ago we headed up to Memorial Lake State Park here in Pennsylvania. The park is located in Fort Indiantown Gap where we have a big military base and it’s surrounded by beautiful Pennsylvania mountains.
The state park is really large and surrounds a gorgeous lake! You can rent pavilions and have barbecue picnics or you can have a picnic at one of the “free” picnic tables that surround the lake.
There are numerous gravel hiking trails that go around the lake and I really appreciated the clean bathrooms with running water! There are 2 nice playgrounds for the kids along with sand boxes for them to play in.
You can rent canoes, kayaks and paddle boats and go boating out on the lake. We saw some some deer nearby and there was a family of ducks swimming out in the lake.
We are going to head back to Memorial Lake State Park again once spring arrives for another family get-together. The mountain scenery and the lake are absolutely gorgeous and we really enjoyed spending our afternoon up there.
