Hurricane Sandy – Please Stay Safe!

October 28, 2012 by Shelly

Hurricane Sandy - Storm Clouds

As some of you know, I live on the east coast and for the past 3 days…we have been preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Sandy. For us, it has been a big ordeal as we have 3 properties to prepare.

Our summer home (condo) sits right on the beach in North Wildwood, New Jersey so our handyman has been boarding up our condo and preparing it for the incoming storm. We live in South Central PA, which is a 3 1/2 hour short drive from the Jersey Coast. We have been preparing our townhouse and our new house for Hurricane Sandy’s arrival.

They are predicting that the Jersey Shore will be hit hard and 14 months ago we were indeed hit hard by Hurricane Irene. Blah! Here we go again with another big storm. Not cool. For the South Eastern Pennsylvania area, we are under flood warnings and high wind warnings, so we have been tying things down and preparing our properties for the storm.

So far, they are predicting 10″ or more in rain for us, along with those nasty high winds. If you live in this area, you already know that we do NOT need any rain and have had way too much rain this year. On top of that, we got our Fall Foliage on the trees and they predict wide spread power outages for our location. Definitely not cool as I hate being without power and I hope our power lines stay up!

Anyway, if you live along the Eastern coast…please make all of the necessary preparations and get ready NOW, if you have not done so already. It is ALWAYS better to be safe, than sorry! For those of you who live in the path of Hurricane Sandy, we will be keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourself, your loved ones and those around you!

Stay Safe Everyone!!!

We are all hoping that we do not have much damage or power outages. It is heading for Long Island now and all schools and colleges and some businesses are closed. Hope everyone stays inside and safe.

Take care of yourself and stay safe! My family has been praying for everyone on the east coast and that will be affected. Know that you are in our prayers. A family friend that lives on the east just let me know that she went to a wedding over the weekend and can’t get back. I am very thankful she will be safe and I pray the same thing for everyone. Stay safe!

Please take care of yourself Carol and your family too! I will be thinking good/safe thoughts for you. Our Condo sits right on the beach in North Wildwood, near the Hereford Lighthouse and that area always floods…blah!!!

We are already “hunkered” down here in PA and they are predicting flooding, high winds and wide spread power outages for us here.

You too Shelly. I live in Jersey, about 20 minutes from New York.
I too hate the thought of the power going and they are saying it could be a few days if that happens until they are able to restore it. 🙁 My oldest son was flooded with Irene and their basement and first floor were totaled. They are still recovering from that… They live in a high flood area to begin with. So now I’m praying for a miracle for him and his family they don’t have as much water damage but this storm is supposed to be one of the worst in History. All we can do is all hope for the best and hope everyone stays as safe as possible. Thanks for the post and stay safe as well.
