My daughter is totally addicted to homemade crab cakes and if I would make them every day for dinner, she would eat them! Seriously, my child is a crab meat lover! This recipe for homemade crab cakes is really easy to make and I had gotten the recipe from my great aunt about 15 years ago.
Homemade Crab Cakes Recipe
1 lb. crab meat
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
3 tablespoons onion, minced
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon parsley
1 large egg, beaten
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
vegetable oil
In a large frying pan, saute the onion in the butter until soft. Stir in the all-purpose flour, ground black pepper, salt and Dijon mustard. Simmer mixture over medium heat for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the milk, parsley and beaten egg. Add in the shredded crab meat until mixture is well combined.
Use your hands and form mixture in nice sized patties. In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, heat up the vegetable oil until it is nice and hot. Add in the crab cake patties and simmer on medium heat until they are golden brown. Remove and serve immediately.

Our family catches our own crab all year long on the West Coast. That’s one of our favorite past time activities. We have the beautiful Dungeness Crabs here which make excellent crab cakes. I’m not very good at making them and haven’t found a recipe I like. Yours sound great and I will have to give it try. Thanks for always sharing recipes!!
