National Restaurant Chain to Launch Eight-Day Race to 55,000 Fans Starting Sept. 26;
Offers Opportunity to win “Free Tacos for a Year”
(UNION CITY, Calif.) Sept. 24, 2012 – Chevys Fresh Mex, a national border cantina-style Mexican restaurant chain, is challenging Facebook fans to “Get Your Taco On” during a special promotion starting Sept. 26 and leading up to National Taco Day on Oct. 4.
Starting Sept. 26, current and new Facebook fans may reserve a coupon for a free taco (a $4 value), which is only redeemable on National Taco Day. The coupon will only be released if Chevys reaches 55,000 Facebook fans by Oct. 3 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. Fans will receive their coupons by email on or before 12:01 a.m. PDT on Oct. 4 and may choose from any of the following à la carte tacos on the menu – crispy or soft Original Salsa Chicken, Slow-roasted Carnitas and Picadillo Beef – at participating Chevys locations. Participants may also enter to win a grand prize of “Free Tacos for a Year” (a $1,200 value) until Oct. 19.
“Chevys brings fresh flavors all year round, but we’re known for our warm, homemade tortillas and terrific tacos,” said Paul Martin, vice president of operations at Chevys Fresh Mex. “This year on National Taco Day, our fans will have the opportunity to get their taco on and even win free tacos for a year!”
Chevys will begin offering new seasonal menu items on Oct. 8. Bold fresh flavors include Shrimp Taquitos served with chipotle aioli and jalapeño jelly, Crispy Lemon Shrimp Tacos wrapped in garlic herb tortillas and a sizzling Mexicampi Shrimp Combo topped with salsa al mojo de ajo. Just in time for the fall season, Chevys also brings back its popular Cranberry Fresh Fruit Margarita. The refreshing libation will be available from Oct. 8 until the year’s end.
For those who can’t wait until Oct. 4 to get their taco on, Chevys will host “Two ’Clock Taco Trivia” on Twitter every day at 2 p.m. PDT from Sept. 26 until National Taco Day. Followers will have the chance to win “Be Our Guest” cards (good for one free entrée and non-alcoholic beverage) by answering taco-related trivia questions. Facebook fans and Twitter followers can also retweet taco-isms posted by Chevys, or post and tag their own taco-eating Instagrams with #GetYourTacoOn for a chance to win a complimentary meal at Chevys.
