A Visit to the Pumpkin Patch

A Visit to the Pumpkin Patch

The first weekend in October we always visit a local pumpkin patch to pick our own pumpkins. The past few years it has been just my husband and I going but this year, we took our 3 1/2 year old little grand daughter with us for the very first time.

At first, she had no idea what a pumpkin patch was or what all of the fuss wast about. Once we got there and she got to see this large farmer’s field full of unpicked pumpkins, she was off and running! LOL

We spent 45 minutes finding 4 perfect looking pumpkins and she was a pretty happy little girl. She was really proud of herself, although she was frustrated that she couldn’t lift them and pappy had to carry them.

Two of the pumpkins went to her house and two went to ours. Now…we are just waiting for her daddy to find the time to “carve” up her pumpkins into cute Jack-o-lanterns!

Do any of you take your kids to the local pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins during this time of the year?

When my kids were young we used to go to a pumpkin patch and they loved it. Then they would “help” me carve them. Your granddaughter looks very happy and proud of herself in the photo.

I think it’s an affordable activity for young kids and it’s something that doesn’t make Halloween scary or evil. I don’t like to expose Little G to scary things!

We are going to the pumpkin patch this weekend. We have a very nice one here that has games and fun activities for the kids. My boys are so excited.

I think this is always the high light of the season to get to pick out your own pumpkin. My grand kids go every year.
