The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst
Promising to be the next guilty pleasure for women, author Jennifer Probst’s The Marriage Bargain (Entangled Publishing) releases in print on September 4. The e-version is already steaming up best-seller lists, moving more than a half-million copies in just six months as the #8 bestselling Kindle e-book for the first half of the year and #9 on the New York Times’ combined print and e-book fiction list.

The Marriage Bargain follows an impulsive bookstore owner, Alexa Maria McKenzie, who tries to save her family home by casting a love spell. But she never planned on conjuring up her best friend’s older brother—the powerful man who once shattered her heart. Billionaire Nicholas Ryan doesn’t believe in marriage, but in order to inherit his father’s corporation, he needs a wife and needs one fast. When he discovers his sister’s childhood friend is in dire financial straits, he offers Alexa a bold proposition. A marriage in name only with certain rules: Avoid entanglement. Keep things all business. Do not fall in love. The arrangement is only for a year, so the rules shouldn’t be that hard to follow, right? Except fate has a way of upsetting even the best-laid plans.

The Marriage Bargain is part of Probst’s Marriage to a Billionaire series, a trilogy of romance novels which offers heartfelt, sexy and funny stories. The second book in the series, The Marriage Trap, will release October 4 in print and e-book, and the third book will be released in November.

My Thoughts:
I don’t know why it happens this way, but I love a story where the guy is rich. Maybe it is something in my sub conscious that feels I am supposed to be that girl, or the story is that much more fun when the guy can just spoil the gal rotten. I am not sure, but I love to read about it! LOL

The Marriage Bargain is a great read with the rich guy / not so rich girl story line but with a fun twist. Alexa has had a schoolgirl crush on Nicholas her whole life and Nicolas never forgot her so when a bargain brings them in front of the preacher, they both feel they can manage living together for a year with no problems. But Alexa and Nicholas both find out their crush isn’t so much like school kids any more. Are they able to make it a year pretending their attraction means nothing? That the heat that radiates off of each other is just nothing? Alexa and Nicholas have a long year a head of them but can they even make that before something happens that could derail their pact and their hidden passion for each other?

I really enjoyed this story line. The author did a great job developing the characters throughout the book and you could almost feel the heat between these two people just like they were in the room with you. I really liked the characters the author created. I think liking them is critical to whether you like a book or not. For me, it was the perfect light hearted reading for an evening after a long work day. I am excited to know that there will be 2 more books after this so you can get the rest of the story.
