Stonefire Authentic Flatbread from Naan
I grew up eating food from many cultures but I had never experienced a flatbread called Naan before. I had heard about it, quite a bit actually, from my husband who had eaten it many times and always raved about the flavor. Stonefire is a company that is dedicated to producing authentic flatbreads including Naan so I was excited to give this a try.
Stonefire Naan is baked in tandoor ovens at very high heats. This creates the wonderful texture. They include only the finest ingredients with no preservatives or artificial stuff in it and they are all hand stretched, just like they have been doing it for thousands of years. Sounds good to me!
I was sent 3 packages of the Stonefire Naan to sample. There was one of the Original, one in Whole Wheat and the third was Garlic. When I opened then box, the aroma of bread and garlic came out and I knew I was going to be one happy girl!
That night while hubby and I were cooking dinner, we sampled the Naan. First we placed it on a baking tray and placed it in the oven for about 5 minutes at 400 degrees. It smelled heavenly as soon as it started to warm through and that 5 minutes went quick. Hubby likes his with a bit of butter and so when we pulled it out of the oven, he cut it into pieces with a pizza cutter and we slathered some butter on it.
The taste was wonderful. The dough is soft and tender and it is not at all like a bread. It reminds me more of a pita. The garlic by far was my favorite. Fabulous flavor although it would not hurt my feelings to enjoy any of these Naan flatbreads with a meal… or in place of one. haha
Hubby did enjoy the favor too. He said it was very much like a traditional Naan bread he has had in the past. These he thought tasted a bit more like flour and the Naan he had had before was a bit thinner in texture. But he agreed, the taste was good and he too loved the garlic.
I went to the Stonefire website and found that they produce several more products like Pizza Crust, Pita Pockets and Roti. They have a lot of recipe ideas there for their products too so it would be easy to replace a regular bread or pizza crust with this yummy product. I also went to their store locator and found that Wal-mart is carrying this in my town as well as the grocery store in the next town, so I am happy to know that I can grab a few of these next time I am shopping and we can enjoy these delicious flatbreads more often. I can just taste that garlic one… thankfully, there is one left. I think it will be on the dinner table tonight!
