Mary Kay Lash Perfection Mascara
I have a bit of a secret to share. Many years ago, I used to sell Mary Kay products. I was young and not that great at it, so it was an experience for me and opened the door for other opportunities in later years. But I did enjoy using their product and one of my favorite items was their mascara. So when I got a chance to sample some of the Mary Kay mascaras and lash serum, I was excited!
I was sent a Mary Kay® Lash Perfection Package that included a primer, three mascaras and a lash & brow serum. They arrived in a beautiful box tied up just like a present. OOoh Ya. I was going to have some fun! Each mascara has a different formula that varies in thickness and I have not tried their products in a long while, so I am anxious to give it a try.
The first one I checked out was the New Mary Kay® Lash & Brow Building Serum™. This is a gentle, fast-drying serum powered by the Lash Response™ Complex – a boost of a peptide, red clover extract and an amino acid blend that helps provide what lashes and brows need to stay healthy and strong. It is used right along the lash line where your lashes meet your skin and following the directions I applied this at night. It works while you are sleeping, which is nice.
The serum is clear and it dried quickly so you don’t have sticky eye lashes. It has a little brush that you use to apply the product. I was a bit concerned about having itchy eyes as I was experiencing some allergies the other day, but it did not bother my eyes at all. This is a long term product that you should use every night. It is used to build thicker and fuller looking lashes. You can also use it on your brows if you have sparse or thin brows. I do not have that issue, but my lashes could definitely stand to use some thickening. So hopefully in 30 days I will see some good results!
Next I used the primer for the lashes. My lashed are very pale and unless I have mascara on, I look like I have no lashes, so I was looking forward to checking this one out! The primer helps to add definition to your lashes and helps to create stronger, fuller and longer looking lashes.
The wand is cool with a nice brush attached. The product goes on clear and dries very quickly. I could see my lashes become a bit more pronounced as it dried. It wasn’t coloring them, but coating them. This was neat and I really liked the effects.
For the sake of the review, I decided to try both mascara’s at the same time, so that I could get a good test of the difference in the products. One my right eye I used the Mary Kay® Ultimate Mascara™ and on the left, I used the Mary Kay® Lash Love™. Once I had them on, I realized that they are both very different and this was a good idea.
The Mary Kay® Ultimate Mascara™ is a nice thick, volumizing mascara, similar to one that I normally use on a daily basis. Since I wear thick glasses, my eyes disappear and I need some oompf to have my eyes appear normal. This mascara went on nicely with no clumping and I put on 2 coats for a nice look. My lashes came out nice and thick looking with some nice length.
On the other side, the Mary Kay® Lash Love™ was totally a different application. The brush looks so different from any one I have ever seen. The bristles are sparse and far between and I thought I was going to have difficulty applying it. Imagine my surprise when it coated very nicely. This mascara is a lighter in application that the other one. It mainly highlights your lashes instead of thickening them but it did a nice job of lengthening and separating the lashes. I did have to apply several coats to get my lashes to where I like them, but I was impressed with this. Not what I expected at all.
The waterproof formula of the Mary Kay® Lash Love™ is just as nice and worked just as well. I use waterproof mascara’s a lot especially in the hot summers here, so I am happy to be able to use this product!
Overall, I was impressed by the products I sampled and reviewed for you. None of the mascaras flaked or smudged at all and I like the fullness and lengthening effects. The primer is way cool and I cannot wait to see the results of 30 days of lash building.
