Low Carb Pasta by Dreamfields Pasta
My husband is back to watching his weight and is on a low-carb diet. With that said, he is a full-blooded Italian and the man has a self-control problem when it comes to indulging in homemade pasta dishes.
Dreamfields Pasta is a pasta company that makes low carb and diabetic pasta for those who are looking for a healthy alternative to the traditional pasta you find out there in the retail marketplace.
The company sent us two boxes of their Dreamfields pastas to try out for all of you. I will admit upfront that I did not try any of their pastas because I am on a high-carb diet due to a medical condition that I suffer from. The test subjects for this review were my husband and my adult daughter.
With the box of Dreamfields Spaghetti my daughter prepared a spaghetti dinner for the two of them and topped the cooked spaghetti noodles with a red marinara sauce. She told me that the pasta cooked up nicely and the noodles did not stick together. This pasta is high in fiber with 5 grams of fiber per serving and both of them need the extra fiber in their diets.
(sorry for the funky looking photo! I broke my camera on vacation and had to use my very old camera to get a photo of the completed dish. Thankfully, I got a new camera now!)
Once she had dinner prepared, the two of them chowed down on the spaghetti dinner. They both said that you would of never guessed that she used a healthier, low-carb pasta and that it tasted even better than traditional high-carb pasta. They gave it a big two-thumbs up!
The company also sent us a box of their Dreamfields Elbows pasta to try out for all of you. With the box of elbows, my daughter whipped up a homemade macacroni salad once she had the pasta cooked up. This pasta also has 5 grams of fiber per serving and there are only 190 calories (10 fat calories) per serving too. She was pretty impressed by that!
After the macaroni salad chilled in the refrigerator for several hours, the two of them tried it out. They used my classic macaroni salad recipe to make it and both of them stated that they couldn’t tell a difference in the taste. They both expected it to taste different but it didn’t. Now…that is a good thing since this is a healthier pasta!
Overall, hubby and Jen were really impressed with the Dreamfields pasta and both would definitely purchase the product and use it in their recipes. Now, we just have to find a store here locally that carries it!
You can learn more about Dreamfields Pasta by visiting their web site. While you are over there, make sure you check out all of their yummy looking recipes too!
