Knitting Hats & Mittens From Around The World BookMy Thoughts: I am going to admit right off the start, I do not knit! I accepted this book review on behalf of my 88 year old mother-in-law who does knit and she is the one who received the book after I was done checking it out. She is what I would call an expert knitter because every year, we all get new hats, scarves and mittens for Christmas that she has personally knitted. In addition, every member in our family has their own Christmas stocking that my mother-in-law knitted for them when they joined the family (by birth or marriage).

This hardcover, 144 page book has 34 heirloom patterns in a variety of styles and techniques. The book is broken down into 4 main chapeters: (1) Hats & Mittens of Scandinavia, (2) Hats & Mittens of Europe, (3) Hats & Mittens of the East, (4) Hats & Mittens of the West. There is also an introduction, knitting abbreviations and yarn resources sections too.

All of the knitting patterns have beautiful photographs and more than one photograph for each one! They all include a materials list, guage and finished measurements too.

I gave the book to my MIL last weekend and she was super excited to receive it. She looked through the entire book and told me that it’s a great book for the person that knows how to knit. She is really excited about the book and has asked me to take her shopping next weekend so she can buy some yarns to make some new hats and mittens! My MIL gives the knitting book a huge 2-thumbs up!
