How often do you clean out your First Aid Kits and Medicine Cabinets? Most of us…don’t clean them out as often as we should! I try to go through them twice a year to dispose of medications that are expired and to reorganized what we have. While I’m at it…I make a list of all of the over-the-counter medicines that I need to replace along with first-aid supplies.
Even though I try to do this task twice a year I’m always surprised at some of the things that I find. Some how I always miss one or two items from the last time I cleaned them out.
When disposing of old medication you should NEVER dispose of them down a sink or toilet. No one wants that in their water supply. Bag them up…double bag them to be extra safe. Call your local municipality to see where you can drop them off. Some pharmacies will take them and dispose of them for you. Some hospitals, doctor’s offices and clinics will also get rid of them for you. Call around and make arrangements to dispose of them the proper way.
