New Wristband and “Puffer” Character Added to Allergy and Health Alert Line of Products, Available August 21, 2012.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Parents of children with asthma can now breathe easier knowing their children are better protected with “Puffer,” the latest bright, fun, kid-friendly wristband in the AllerMates® collection of allergy and health alert products. Kids wear the wristbands, dog tags and stickers to alert the people around them – at school, on the playground, in daycare and at others’ homes – of their allergy and health ailments. Available August 21, 2012 – just in time for back-to-school – “Puffer” joins 14 other fun, original characters that represent the most common allergies and kids’ health issues: peanut, nut, gluten/wheat, milk, egg, shellfish, penicillin, insect sting, latex, pollen, fish, soy, sesame and cat.
Wearing an AllerMates “Puffer” wristband might make a teacher, coach or other caregiver more attentive and responsive to a child’s asthma needs. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of “Puffer” products will be donated to asthma research.
THE STORY
Iris Shamus, a mother of a child with multiple food allergies, was frustrated by the lack of allergy-related kid-friendly products so she took action and created AllerMates, a line of bright, fun, whimsical character-driven wristbands, dog tags and lunch boxes that young children would happily embrace. In addition to providing comfort and security, she wanted the products to provide a level of positive feeling for kids.

My Thoughts: My 3 year old grand daughter suffers with Asthma and she attends preschool. I was super excited to see one of these bracelets show up in my mailbox for a review. Since receiving the Asthma bracelet, Little G has been wearing it around her wrist when she goes to school. Since she is only 3 years old, she looks at it as just another piece of fun jewelry. However, her mom and her preschool teacher look as it as something that is functional and it allerts others to her medical history of having asthma. Matter of fact, her teacher wishes that more parents would get jewelry like this for their kids who suffer from any type of serious medical problem or allergy. The bracelet is adjustable with 3 size settings, even on the smallest setting, it’s a little big on Little G but we are confident she will “grow” into it soon.
